Keilei's Burned Finger

This is some of the progression of Keilei's burned finger. The progression is good I just feel so bad because it is starting to hurt her more and I think it will continue to hurt worse as it heals and she gets new skin on it.
I have Sean wrap it all the time. We have to wash it with soap 2 times a day and re wrap it. Then let her move it and bend it in the bath. So we change it at least 3 times a day, that is if she doesn't pull it off at all. But soon Sean will have to go back to work and I will have to do it. I don't mind looking at her sore, it doesn't make me sick or anything, I just know that it hurts her and I hate that. And since the burn is on both sides of her finger we have to cut and make a make shift band aid that will pad both sides.
At first the inside of her burn was all white, it went deep down

Then it started looking better with color in it, which is good
You can't tell but the top burn is a little crater

You can't tell by the angle but the inside is still red it even bleed a little the other day for the first time. But the top layer of skin is lifting up and starting to come off.

The flaking of the top layer of skin is coming off on the whole top of her finger. You can't really tell my camera doesn't take good close ups of small things.

Colorado Family Vacation

Sean Keilei & I left Fri the 22 to go to Breckenridge, CO. We stopped in Vernal to say hi to Sean Uncle & Aunt Ron & Anita. We ate lunch at their house and let Keilei run around a little then on to Breckenridge. We didn't get there till around 9ish and hurried to unpack the car and get Keilei to bed she hadn't slept all day.

We stayed in a 3br 3 bth condo for the week, we originally intended to have a couple friends stay with us but no one could make it. My little sister was also originally suppose to come too, to nanny some of the time, but couldn't last minute cause of school stuff. So it was just us but it was nice to have space to put Keilei in her own room.
It is VERY beautiful in that area. We had fun although it rained a couple days so we felt a little couped up especially with Keilei running all over. But on the nice days we where able to sight see, shop downtown, go bike riding(Sean as often as he could, we went with him once), swimming, enjoyed the scenery, went shopping, ate out, oh and on the rainy days watched TV (we don't have TV at home just movies).
With me being prego, my head thing, the altitude(which has never bothered me before but it seemed to this time), and I was just getting over a cold I was sick way more then I wanted to be. Sean was great with watching Keilei and letting me rest but he doesn't like to sit still for long and got a little antsy. When it started raining we even debated going home a couple days early but the next day was beautiful and it stayed nice the rest of the time so we stayed.
We had a good time but would have loved to have our friends there and also to have some alone time with out Keilei. As much as we love her that girl does not sit still, unless she is watching a movie and of course it's not for the whole time. We where pleasantly surprised about how well she did when we went out to eat, most of the time anyway:) And she was pretty much an angel on the car ride there and back, Thanks to a portable DVD player. I don't know what people did before those things, I never would have traveled. Even though her car seat must not be comfy cause she would not take a nap in the car at all.
The trip was a little disappointing cause when we planned this vaca I wasn't prego and so we planned to go white water rafting, on a zip line, horseback riding and maybe on the alpine slide but all those went out the window when i got prego. I don't suggest going to an outdoorsy get away when your pregnant it's kinda like holding candy in front of a baby. We also wanted our friends to be there and we went a little early in the season, hence the rain. But we still had a really good time making do with what we had. So all in all we had a good time. I would definetly go back someday when not prego.

On the way there, on the way home. Both only lasted 15-30 mins and then she wouldn't go back to sleep again.
Keilei literally climbed right down to the water and was starting to step into it. Sean had to sit there and hold her cause she kept trying.
Breckenridge's version of a playground.
Keilei putting my ice pack on her head, just like mommy

Our family bike ride.
Keilei in the wagon.
Keilei eating nuggets and fries and watching a "show" as she calls them, after going swimming.

I turned around for one second and heard SPLASH! The bath tub was really low and Keilei had leaned over to touch the water and face planted into the tub. It was funny Sean and I both laughed.
The next picks are at Sallie Barber mine that Sean found on one of his bike rides.
under that grate the shaft goes down 300+ feet
I dropped a rock in it and didn't hear it hit the bottom.
The view from the mine, it was amazing
The last day we went to a Old Navy outlet and their clearance was 50% off !!!
I got Keilei all this stuff for 50 bucks!!!!
I was very proud of my steal of a deal.
(there are at least 15 shirts there + all the other stuff)

On the way home we looked back to check on Keilei and she had her hands behind her head watching her show it was the cutest thing
The gorgeous drive. You can't really see it but there is a bike trail that follows the river right next to but lower then the highway. But it went forever like from town to town it was awesome.

On the way home just out of Vernal we heard a huge BOOM! Sean thought that one of the air bags had gone off, I thought that maybe one of the bikes had fallen off the car. When we looked around we found that Sean's bike tire had exploded. We pulled over and Sean cleaned up all the white goo that came out of it and I calmed Keilei down, it had scared her and she was bawling.

Plastic Surgeon

We went in first thing today and saw the surgeon. He was very nice and was very optimistic that she would heal fine on her own. He said the palm of the hand heals well and since she is so young that helps heal too. We have to wash her wound with soap and water twice a day but she only needs a big band aid, and ointment, on it instead of a big wrap and glove. We do have to make sure she continues to move her finger in her baths every night, I guess that is very therapeutic. We will check in with the Doc to make sure the scaring doesn't limit the movement of her finger and check for infection. He did say the burn went really far down. But all in all it was good news and put my mind at ease. He also said there is no reason we can't go to Colorado, which is also good news.
So now I get to start stressing about packing the 3 of us.... yippee! :(
These aren't the best pics but that is her finger with the top layer cut off
You can't see them but there are 3 blisters on the back of her finger

Such a Trooper

Today I took Keilei to the Doctor again, as instructed. He took off the bandage and Keilei bent her finger and started bawling poor thing. We had to hold her finger so she couldn't bend it or move it at all. The Dr. examined her finger, Keilei bawled the whole time, and said he needed to cut off the top layer which had blistered.
While we waited for the Doc Keilei kept saying "Bye...Bye" she wasn't talking to anyone, she was saying that she wanted to go bye-bye. It was so sad and so cute. He came in and she started crying again as he started cleaning her burn. But then the genius nurse got her a sucker and she went to town on it and didn't make a peep after that and sat perfectly still while the doc did the cutting. She was amazing! She even blow the Doc good-bye kisses as we where about to leave. He was amazed by that. He said it was great that she could go through something like that and still blow kisses.
The Doc however did say that it was a 3rd degree burn and we needed to go to a plastic surgeon tomorrow and see what he says and see if Keilei needs skin grafts. So I am anxious to see what he says. I will have to write tomorrow and tell what he says.
We also want to know what he has to say cause we are supposed to be going to Colorado on Friday for a week. It is the first vacation we have had (not including trips to UT & Az to visit family) in 3 years. And it can't be rescheduled so we will see how involved this burn is going to be. Of course I really want to go but would totally understand if our daughter needs the TLC of Doctors in the coming week.

I was at Old Navy trying on clothes when I got a call from my sister, "You might want to come home Keilei was electricuted and she has a pretty bad burn on her finger."

Apparently the room Keilei usually watches movies in my Mom is repainting. She had moved some furniture and had not noticed that it had uncovered an outlet that didn't have a cover on it. Yeah you guessed it Keilei stuck her finger into it.

I said I was on my way. I called Sean and asked if he could leave work and go check on her, he was closer then I was. He said ok. I rushed home and found her sitting with my Mom and Sean watching a movie, lucky for me she was done crying. My Mom was holding her hurt hand so she wouldn't move it. I should have taken a picture but the whole tip of her right index finger is burned and a little on the back. It is this solid white mass, it is the worst burn I have ever seen, but it is hard to describe.

The doctor took a look said it was a really bad burn and that if it was on more of her hand she would be hospitalized. He gave us an oral antibiotic, since the sore it on her hand and hard to keep clean, and wrapped it up. We have to go in tomorrow so they can check how it is blistering and decide if they need to cut of the burned part (which we would have to go to a plastic surgeon for).

She doesn't even act like it hurts anymore and is playing like she normally does. Which is great at least she isn't in a bunch of pain. I'm just dreading having to hold her if they have to cut at her, hopefully they don't have to! I am very grateful and thank Heaven it isn't worse then it is. But I still feel so bad for my poor little baby.

I cut a whole in the bandage for her thumb. I went to get her a bottle and when I came back she was laying on the floor sucking her thumb, from her bandaged hand, it was so cute.

Bees and Clothes

Today Keilei was in the other room watching a movie and she kept saying ouch over and over. At first I thought it was because someone in the show got hurt but she kept saying it. So I went to see if she was hurt. When I walked in she was pointing to something still saying ouch. I looked and saw that she was pointing to a bee that was in our house buzzing around the screen door. I thought it was so cute I wish I would have got it on video. She definitely knows what it was that stung her a couple weeks ago.

I went though all of Keilei's clothes yesterday and today putting away ones that don't fit her any more and getting out summer clothes. It was sad to me though. She got so chubby so fast when she was a baby and then thinned out when she started crawling and walking so she stayed in the same clothes a long time. She has literally been wearing the same things for a year now, except I had to add more winter cloths to her collection since moving to Logan. But it is sad to me to actually have to put away the clothes she has wore since she was a "little" baby.

But I am excited for this summer and that she is active and mobile enough to actually be able to enjoy the park and the lake, etc. Even if it does mean I have to chase after her:)

Cute Keilei
She loves the sandal she is carrying, they have a flower on them and she calls the flower pretties and will smell it and carry her sandals around with her

Family Fun

On Tuesday Sean had the day off and we wanted to do something together. It was still to chilly to go to the lake and the canyon would have been chilly too. So we decided to go for a walk. We walked into downtown to go to a bike shop. Then remembered we needed to go to the store and grab a couple things for dinner that night. So we walked to Smiths. After that we stopped at Taco Time to get something to eat. They have small crushed iced and Keilei sat and ate ice the whole time. She loves ice! She asks for it all the time. We got her a cup of ice put her back in the stroller with the ice and walked home. She ate it all the way home. We walked by some gorgeous trees in blossom and I picked one and stuck it in Keilei's hair. When we got home I took it out of her hair and throw it on the ground. Keilei picked it back up and held it to her head and said pretties. She wanted me to put it back in her hair. It was so cute. In all we walked over 2 miles which is nothing to most people but to me was a lot more then normal.

When we got home and sat still for a minute my head started hurting so I laid down to take a nap. Sean made dinner...sort of a late Mothers day thing since he had had to work. We had a great dinner and then I was off to Young Women's and Sean was off to help someone move.

We I got to the church a couple of my laurels ran across the yard and both bear hugged me almost knocking me over:) It made me feel so special, I love those girls! They are so cute and sweet.
These are the two that attacked me. Annie & Marnea aren't they cute.
After Keilei was in bed we watched Taken. Sean loves it. I can't help but think of that happening to Keilei so it makes it sad to me. After the first time we saw it Sean walked out after saying "Keilei is NEVER going to France." So I know I'm not the only one who thought that way:) It is crazy the things that change when you have a kid. I never would have thought that my insight on movies would change but it sure did. I cry at movies I never cried at before.

Pig Tails = Pain

I have been anticipating being able to do pig tails on Keilei and today I finally did it. She looked SO adorable. But it will be a rare thing because I feel like I am torturing her and little baby girls shouldn't have to go through pain to "look pretty".
She cried the whole time, even though it only took a second, and kept saying ouch. After ward she kept rubbing her shoulder against the bottom of her head and putting her hand up at her neck(pictures below) She didn't stop doing that even after a few hour so I finally took them out. She just looked so uncomfortable! And that is why you never see pictures of Keilei with her hair done up all cute.

I don't know if you can tell but she had tears in her eyes :(

These are the weird little things she kept doing
Side Note:
I think we have a dandilion problem...what do you think?
Our whole front yard looks like this
This is the side yard, not quiet as bad
Keilei loves playing with the ones you blow on though

Man next year it's going to be even worse with the help of Keilei spreeding the seeds:)

This is Keilei's new crazy face. She just started doing it out of no where. But we laugh EVERY time she does it. It is SO cute. And if she is in the mood, and we laugh at it of course, she will do it over and over again. I love it!
